Of course they do. Many more men common out of prison with HIV infection or even full blown AIDS than go in since men may resort to other men sexually in prison who do not do so on the outside.
Prisons prefer to pretend that prohibited sex doesn't happen and refuse to provide the things that would reduce spread like education and condoms. As a result, men carry the virus with them when they are released and infect their sexual partners on the outside, often wives or others who would not otherwise be at risk.
Even worse, many prisons don't even test to see who is HIV positive routinely on incarceration or at release. If they knew inmates were infected, they would have to offer treatment so it's cheaper just to ignore the problem.
With such a high proportion of men in prisons these days, this is a significant problem. It puts us all at greater risk.

about the same as a person in the community already. when they are in prison and released if released they are just as prone as a free man already out. say a foreigner from another country coming to your neighborhood. aids has no preference just the preference of aids, our ignorance and lack of education. so it doesn't matter who is carrying it as long as we are protecting ourselves and trying to find a cure.

Absolutely!!! It is one of the things people don't seem to know or talk about. It is a huge problem.
