Many people feel he influenced James Madison, one of the primary authors of the US Constitution.

He also wrote a political treatise "Idea of a Perfect Commonwealth" where he discussed many ideas included in our Constitution, including the separation of powers.

David Hume was a Scottish historian and philosopher whose writings supposedly greatly influenced James Madison - architect of the Constitution - and 4th President.
