In short, the top 2 teams in the BCS rankings will play in the Championship game. The confrence champions from the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10, and SEC are automatically qualified for the other BCS games (Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl)
In the championship game its gonna be Auburn and OSU, with Auburn taking home the championship.

The NCAA have a some-what complicated way of decided who will be playing in the Championship Bowl game. The system used to determine the two competators is called the BCS (Bowl Championship Series). Three components are used to compute what two teams are #1 and #2 in the BCS (the teams that play for the championship).
Component 1: Coaches' Poll - This is calculated pretty simply; say Ohio State is rank #1 by 1500 coaches, and 1575 total coaches were polled, an average of 95.2%
Component 2: Harris Interactive College Football Poll - This is similar to the AP Poll, but it's voted on by former players, coaches, administrators, and current and former media.
Component 3: Computer Average - The BCS now uses six computer rating systems dropping the highest and lowest ranking for each team. Then, it will give a team 25 points for a Number 1 ranking in an individual system, 24 points for Number 2, and so on down to 1 point for Number 25. Each team's set of numbers is then added, conveniently making the number compatible with the percentages from the two polls.
The BCS ranking is then determined by add up all 3 numbers and dividing by 100. The two teams at the top of the BCS at the end of the season face each other in the BCS Championship game (Tostitos BCS National Championship).
Ohio State is my favorite this year.

Its a crap system dictated by the big conferences and only the big conferences have any legitimate chance at actually playing in the championship game.
It was proven two years ago when Utah and Boise State went undefeated and were snubbed from the biggest bowl games and not even considered for a share of the national title or a chance to play for it (If memory serves, and it usually fails me, neither even made it into the top 5) Proponents will say that neither team was good enough to play for the title, but those same people wouldn't want the big schools to play the little guys on the off-chance that they might actually lose to the smaller school and be proven they are not as good as everyone thinks. If they are, they would win. But that chance was denied, and another chance will not be realized anytime soon...
It's all about the money, and until a real playoff system is instituted it remains a big conference game that only the big conferences get to play in.

Before every year the coaches submit their AP college polls and on those submitted lists they rank the top 50 teams in the nation. Many are flawed...Stanford...but this is how its done...depending on the order in which they finish they are matched up for certan sponsered bowl games depending on location and strength of schedule.

LSU should be but the paid off referees in yesterday's debacle called a football game have insured that this won't happen. This game was cheated away from LSU and we are the best in America.
