I have a felony charge that's pending. In 6 months, it will be dropped and expunged. Can I get a passport if the charge is pending, or do I have to wait until the charge is dropped?

Yes, you can get a passport. It establishes your identity only. Where you will have trouble, is when you apply for a "visa" this is permission to enter countries that require one, for example, Australia requires a visa, most people don't even think about it, because the airline arranges one when they book a trip it they don't have a multiple entry visa. In 2007, even entry/return to Mexico and Canada will require a passport, but not a visa, so far.

It used to be ok to get a passport with a felony, but I don't know anymore. Check with your local passport office (many post offices have a passport department in them).

That is entirely up to the discretion of the Passport Agency. a felon can recieve a passport if it has not been revoked by the judge.

i think if you are not a convicted felon you can get one. but it also depends on the type of pending felony too

I'm not sure. But I do know you can call or walk into your local post office and ask them at the desk.
You can also apply for one there. They'll tell you everything you need to know

Good LUCK
