The remake of The Amityville Horror is both scary and gory. I had my eyes shut through half of it.

John Carpenter's -The Thing (1989)
The Blob - 1989-90
The Grudge- Japanese
There's a few others I'm trying to remember but I would definitely watch The Thing if you want blood, gory and scary. Some movies are rather tamed and I'm the type of person who laughs during horror movies.

There are some really good classics that don't offer alot of blood but are really suspensful, like the original "Psycho"...1960, and the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"...early 70s. But then there are some good suspensful movies of the 90s onward like any of the "Silence of the Lambs" movies, the ones you mentioned, and I liked the new "House of Wax" which came out a couple years ago. But to me, the scariest movie I ever saw was the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"....and the interesting thing is that it was based on a true story.

Brain Dead is a comedy/horror, though more a comedy, but it is quite gory. I don't really think any movie is actually scary except Eraserhead, but you sound like you're around the same age as me, and so it will probably bore you.

Return of the Living Dead III, Day of the Dead, and The Evil Dead are all pretty gory. You might want to watch some of those asian horror movies that are really popular now. They take gore to a new level. You can find those titles at your friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart.

Depends on what scares you. Is it the unknown, that leaves you to your imagination? I would suggest the original "The Haunting".Is it real life guts and gore? I would suggest get you some "Faces of Death" flicks. The "Cube" movies are pretty good. I thought "The Dentist" movies were scary. I can still feel the drill on my teeth from that! I thought "re-Animator" was pretty awful as well as the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

Children of the Corn. You will never be able to drive past a corn field again without getting freaked out. It's old, but very scary.
