Joe Montana....he's a classic

Considering the fact that Joe has gone to, and won, four Super Bowls, and Peyton hasn't even gotten within a breath of a Super Bowl, I would say Mr. Montana.

Peyton Manning is the Dan Marino of his time. Sure, he'll be a great quarterback and set a lot of records, but he probably won't win anything.

Tom Brady is the Joe Montana of his time.

I hate to say it, but those of you who say "Manning" don't really understand the nature of the game of football, do you.

Maybe after he (Manning) wins at least two or three Superbowls we can come back and have this conversation again.

Montana was pure magic, he "willed" things to happen on the field. He led his teams to an astounding 31 forth quarter comebacks. He could turn a game around by just grinning like an idiot and saying to his offensive line, "hey look over there, its John Candy" (they were behind Cincinnati 16-13 in the 1989 Superbowl on their own 8 yard line with a couple minutes left in the game - Harris Barton said "some of us in the huddle were so uptight at that point, I was sure I was going to puke my guts out and Joe says something like that! I knew at that moment we were going down the field to score and we would win the Superbowl!" And that's what they did! Montana on an 11-play 92-yard game-winning drive, the greatest in Super Bowl history, finally hitting John Taylor with a 10-yard TD pass with 34 seconds left.)

He was MVP in THREE Superbowls. He won FOUR rings and although he made his share of errors during the regular season, HE NEVER THREW AN INTERCEPTION IN THE SUPERBOWL!

Few people know that he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at around 30, when he was still at the height of his career and that this crippling disease was the actual cause of his retirement.

Don't get me wrong, I like Payton Manning and maybe one day he will arrive at the level of true legend of a Joe Montana, but its pure football ignorance to even suggest that he is even close to that today.....

That is an apples to oranges comparison. When Peyton Manning has as many years in the NFL as Joe Montana, THEN the comparison can be made...
and I LOVE Manning!!
