There are many ways. The first and foremost is, do you really want to quit? Not just saying it, but deep inside you. Many people say they want to quit smoking but don't mean it.
Try to identify when you smoke. What is causing it? Seeing someone else smoke, boredom, just to smoke, etc. When do you smoke? How many cigarettes a day? Start by cutting back slowly. If you smoke a pack a day, then try to cut it back by 5 cigarettes a day. Avoid items that cause you to smoke. For some people it is a certain kind of food but mainly any caffeinated drinks. Allow your body to get used to the reduced amount. Every six weeks or so cut out another 5 cigarettes. In between cutting back quit for a couple of days. As you go through the process the body loses the craving for a smoke. The lesser you smoke, increase the days you don't smoke. When you get to the point of smoking 5 or less cigarettes, take a week or two off to not smoke. Eventually your body will lose its need or craving.
Find other interests and frequent places where smoking is not allowed. Medicines, patches, hypnosis and al lthat won't work because your body still craves. I know of people who have done those and then went back to smoking years later.
Hope this helps. Good Luck with your effort and I have complete faith in you that you can stop. :)

If you have pain in your chest when you smoke that is very helpful in keeping you on track. You may not have that pain, but keep thinking about the pain you do suffer, the coughing in the morning, or whatever. In other words, when you think about cigarettes think about the negative. I did quit cold turkey, but that was the only choice back then. One trick I found very helpful was to make a habit of not buying or carrying cigarettes, and if somehow I did get some throwing them away. (this works with liquor too). Obviously, you need to not be bumming cigarettes either. Think about how cheap and foolish you are to do that. The thing about not buying cigarettes is that the buying is at least a little painful so that is a good place to intervene if you start back up again. Likewise if you have started again and feel disgusted that is a good time to throw them in the stove (I have a wood stove) and then if you want more you would have to buy them. You just set up a steady negative wind... Good luck! You'll be feeling a lot better in just a few months.

I'm on these great all natural mineral supplements that got rid of my depression, they have another one made by the same company called Kalmin. A lady started slipping it to her daughter who smoked, by putting it in juice, the daughter started easing off the cigarettes until one day she just stopped (she didn't know why -her mom was so happy). the supplement gets rid of addictions, even cocaine and meth. It took less than 2 months on the supplement for her to quit, and you never go back to it if you stay on a good multi vitamin for a while after quiting. Best thing is this stuff is very inexpensive, easy to take and has no negative side affects. email me for more info!

my parents smoked hardcore 3-4 packs of cigs a day. For me and my brothers sake they both quit cold turkey after about 30 years. They are both very determined. Sure patches and everything else help. But if your really determined, just first off get rid of all your cigs, make yourself do it. Find another useful use for ur money. And just quit. If you are determined you can do it. And try drinking something you like everytime you get an urge, or sucking on a sucker. But in my opinion, patches, nicotine gum, just slow the process down. You will be so much sexier, have more money, if you just stomp the butts and quit. For reals. Do yourself a favor.

I think cold turkey is the best way, I started to smoke a little bit with some friends but every time I had one I just felt disgusting so I really don't try them too often anymore, also you may want to consider changing your environment because I notice that people who smoke usually hang around each other. Also if you slip don't get down on yourself just start over cold turkey.

I have heard of a few people trying different things like just cuttin down slowly and then keep doing that till you've quit but that usually don't work. I've only seen it once. Usually the only way is just to do it!!! IF you have any left just tear them up and throw them away!!! You have to just make up your mind. My sister printed out a picture of a smoker's lung and put on her fridge so that way when she got an urge that took care of it lol You basicly just have to make up your mind and then just do it and dont turn back not even one more puff. Be strong it will get better with time well after the first week or so it should start gettin easier. I wish you lots of luck!!!!!!!!!

every day, start with a determined amount of cigs or packs. Once you establish this amount, start taking one cig out the the pack and put it away somewhere at the beginning of each week. After a few months or years depending on how munch you smoke you will come down to the cigs that you put off to the side. Keep doing the same with those cigs until you have smoked your last one. If you feel that you still need one after that just keep in mind of the money you have saved for that new car.

Hey, first i want to say i myself am not a smoker so i cannot say personally i know what it's like to be addicted. However my mom is and I see how hard it is for her. I have suggestions though that may help.
`Exercising(yoga might help)
`Chewing gum
`reward yourself for every week you don't smoke with things that you enjoy
`have a support group, family member or friends who will stop you from doing it and motivate you
`put little encouraging notes around your house and in your purse saying how good your doing
Things I dont think work...the patches or gum, because they just load you up with nicotine, the same thing in smokes that you are addicted to, so even though your not actually smoking, you might as well be

Wake up one morning and just say I am done. Instead of your normal rutine you have in the morning , change it. I ahve quit for 48 days now and When I get up int he morning I was use to haveing a smoke, now I get a piece of gum and chew the crap out of it. It is not easy and I was a total you know what the first week, but it does get better. My daddy just passed away 2 months ago from lung cancer and watching him suffer and seeing what he had to go through broke my heart and put the fear of God in me. Do it for yourself, You will be more healthy then you were before. My doctor told me it take 3 months for your lungs to get back to pre smokeing. well They will be 100% better then when you were smokeing. Good luck and You can do It !!!! Be strong!

Try chewing on a straw or something like that.. Sometimes it just seems like an addictive behavior to have something in your mouth so chewing on a straw or toothpick or even gum might help...
