Life has it's ups and downs...but what thing or gesture can he do to reassure you to say that "everything is going to be okay?"

Hold her...plain and simple (assuming you are a significant other). Girls love security; she will feel safe from all of her problems if her man is hanging on to her! That's so sweet that you even think of this...most guys don't.
If I was having a bad day, or week, it would also help for me to sit down and relax. Even just sitting down and talking with my BF (to get things off my chest) would help. Or watching a HAPPY movie, like a comedy or a musical. Music has been shown to help elevate people's moods. But make sure it is not sad music or violent. Also, coming from a girl who works at a candle store, candles work wonders. Also, aromatherapy.
I dunno...these are things that would brighten my day (week, month, w/e)...

There is no "one" thing. In a loving, supportive relationship, both partners should be there not only physically but emotionally and that means talking it out, listening with compassion, and showing love and support in every way. Having trust that your partner will be with you thru life's ups and downs is the most reassuring feeling of all.

if he strokes my hair and kisses the top of my head. sometimes words arent needed, just a touch or a look. My hubby sometimes will play dont worry baby by the beach boys if he knows im stressed out =)
