i watched the movie a few times and i just cant understand it, who was the ghost and what did it have to do with the little girl, did the father have anything to do with it. if someone could explain to me in deep detail i would be so happy , its a great movie i think the little girl played her part so good, shes a good actress,

If you recall at the beginning of the movie at the church scene where the father was accused of " usury " because of the bad business deal he made with the old lady. She cursed him and what he valued most was his daughter, that's why the ghosts were after her. That's how the old lady could get to his core by hurting his daughter. As for where the ghosts came from. The old lady seemed to have the ability to summon spirits because she could back up when she cursed the family.

I haven't seen the movie, but it's supposedly based on a book about the bell witch haunting. A family in 1818-1820 were haunted by a ghost named Kate that would attack the youngest child Betsy Bell and the father John Bell Sr. No one really knows why it went after Betsy and John but it was said the ghost talked to the family saying it's Mission was to kill John Bell. Once he was dead it supposedly sanged, laughed at his funeral and left promising to return in 7 yrs, which it supposedly did to tell the son John Bell Jr. Telling him about the past, present and future, she made some predictions for the future as well. Anyway she left again promising to return in 107 yrs. You should get the novel and read up on it, it's called An American Haunting by by Brent Monahan.

Well Dear. As faar as i could understand.. It was her father who was culprit of what happened to the little girl. he must have had dual personalities.
and because of his cruel acts the girl became a witch like character. and when he died she became in peace. actually she took her revenge.

haven't watched it. But heard its a true story and in fact the only murder case in american history recognized commited by a non-human being.
