England is an island and because of that we had bloody good defence, from invasion. so some great clot came up with the idea of tunnelling under the sea. From Dover to Calais, This after millions of years stops us in theory being an island.
God Forbid and I pray that there isn't another war because the enemy would only take minutes to come through the tunnel, and I don't think customs or immigration could stop them.
Also we have been Rabi's free for many years something that the Europeans haven.t. a tunnel is an easy passage for any rodent to cross.
Get rid of the tunnel come out of Europe and lets be independent again.

if i remember right, they started construction about 1988, or there abouts. like previous replies, our defence has gone, not just from would be conquerors and rabies, but as we have seen on the news, illegal immigrants to. re the explosives, anyone with an ounce of grey matter between their ears, would have sorted that one out when construction was underway, and before the two drills met subsurface, so our "french allies" could not see what we had done. the norwiegians did this whilst the cold war was on, NATO guarded the northern flank of norway, and if you ever get the chance to vivit the country, when driving up the E6 (main road north to south ) and you look in the cliff face just above the road, you will see numerous square steel plates, behind these plates are/were explosives, just incase the russians ever managed to get by our armed forces.

A tunnel from Dover to Calais for passenger and vehicle trains. They only invented the drill that made it possible. And that could be said of it was developed rather than invented.

Tried Google or similar lately?

Eurotunnel plc (in the UK) and Eurotunnel SA (in France) make up the Eurotunnel Group, founded in August 1986, which manages and operates the Channel Tunnel between the UK and France.

Try Chanel Tunnel, or maybe even EuroStar. You have the Internet, use it! I never did my kids' homework for them, and they didn't have Internet. I might sometimes have pushed them in the right direction.
