Start by practicing at home. Pretty easy sport to pick up on your own. Then, acquire coach to properly execute shots & strategies.
You should then travel to Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden) or southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia) or China where the sport is huge and where best in world come from, to get inspiration, high level play and enter club level tournaments.

You can become a carrier by carrying the baggages of badminton players.
But if you want to make it a career - practice, practice and practice. There is no second alternative. Get some coaching as just hitting the shuttle hard is not what badminton is.
