It's a horrible piece of history, like the Holocaust, The spanish Inquisition, The Rwandan genocide....etc...
You learn it so as not to repeat the same mistakes, but you can't let it cripple you. You've got to live your life and can't endlessly dwell on the past.

You fail to show that slavery is going back far earlier Christianity. Greece, Assyria, and Egypt, and at one time, the Roman Empire’s entire inhabitants consisted of 25% slaves, with Italy’s slaves comprising 30% to 40% of its entire inhabitants. Slavery has been admired by using the history of humanity, because pre-Christianity a good immediately it maintains with human trafficking. I agree that the Anglo Saxons have been variety barbaric at one element, yet you apart from might fail to show the different violent cultures. Indian tribes of North usa had brutal approaches of killing one yet another, besides a South usa, Asian countries, Africa, ect. it is not a clean concern, the Anglo Saxons merely happened to be those to start the slave commerce and such. i'm no longer asserting that each race of persons replaced into violent, yet you would be waiting to locate communities of very violent societies everywhere throughout history. Has Christianity screwed up plenty? sure. Is it in charge for the slavery of blacks? you be the decide. From what I found out in history class however, people needed low-priced hard paintings to assist advance advert develop vegetation, %. fields, ect. I had continuously found out that it stemmed around money.

Well its still one of the most controversial issues facing African-Americans today. I think its how we identify or fail to acknowledge its existense, that we become impartial and unaware of who we are. We are a product of many things but we must always be aware of the history of our culture and try to overcome the present day obstacles that hinder us.
Before you can leap forward you have to know your position and where exactly you are leaping towards.
Presently I am enrolled in a History 18 class following the time period after the Civil War and it's been hard to actually listen to my professor talk about the issues of slavery and it's consequent hinderances that faced certain cultures that it effects, most notably Southern blacks during the 18th century.
Presently I can't do much to go back and change what happened during those eventful years, but as an individual striving for a good life I can recognize the hardships my ancestory endured and try my damndest to achieve what they would have wanted me to achieve, minus all the complaining and adversity I might encounter...best of luck and don't stop trying!

If you look for the reason's why the Black folks are in trouble in many areas; sex, drugs, crimes, gang murders you will be able to find that they are all under a cruse. You say a curse what do you mean a curse? Well it actually goes back to Noah who had 3 sons... something happen with Noah and one of them spoke out and for his part he was cursed by his father which became the nation of Africa.... If you get a Bible and open the Word of God and let it speak to you you will discover that there were many who were cursed because they did not do things right and it just so happen that Ham - Noah's son formed the African Nation and it had to do with a sexual sin and look at the curse and how many Hiv-Aids victims are infected and when you speak of slavery you will see that the greatest thing you can do because a curse is in the Blood - so how do you escape that curse is only through a Savior... His Blood was shed - His Life so anyone who receives what He did all Generational Curses will be broken... Redeemed... You may escape through education but there no guarantee that your children or grand children will ... If you except waht Jesus did at the cross not only will the generational curse be broken but the Word of God says You and YOUR hosehold will be SAVED... The only way to close the account with Satan and the original sin is to open a new account with the redeemer of sin, Jesus Christ.

Personally, I think with your attitude, that you have the right mindset to go far. Dont worry about it you 'll be fine.
Study other histories, you will see that just about all races have been enslaved or mistreated at some point in the past.
It is relief to hear a black speak on the subject without the hate. Hate only hurts the hater.

like many young, idealistic people, years ago, i thought that the obvious wrongs perpetrated on earth, if enough effort was made, could be righted and prevented from ever occuring again. now, many years later, i realize that, essentially, the planet is owned by psychopaths, and their mid level managers, like bush, blair, merkel, putin, the pope, etc. are not much less psychopathic. their agenda is centralized wealth and power in the hands of the self proclaimed "elites", and what happens to us "peasants" of any color concerns them not at all. as a matter of fact they view overpopulation as their enemy so the more that die due to the wars and genocide they foment and profit from via selling arms, etc. the happier they are. slavery has been popular since humans came into existence, and, of course,is just another benefit for "the owners". good luck to us all!

HUH?
The African Diaspora is a very sad chapter in world history
It certainly was a very long period of slavery, but not the only time a race of people were enslaved
Many groups who were once enslaved went on to become very strong people
In the USA IMO there are black people who shun responsibility and from time to time blame it on their heritage of being enslaved
They waste their own potential and are an embarrassment to all Americans
Try to avoid falling for their fallacies (Jessie Jackson, Nation of Islam, Tupac, etc)

It was a terrible part of our history, but it is part of our history, not our present. We should learn from it and move on. I still hear people complain about how oppressed they were, when they never were--it was their great-great-great-etc. grandparents. We have had many groups in our country that have been oppressed, such as the Jews, the Irish, the Chinese, and especially the Native Americans. I am in favor of calling a moratorium on "victims." If you weren't personally victimized, you are not a victim.

Why don't you just try being an educated woman with educated children. The chances of you being sold into slavery are zero to minus zero - don't you think?

Firstly we should NOT use "slavery" to sum up the mistreatment of the black race. Being a slave could mean you just work for free or free for a reason like debt, a agreement to do something in a situation. Just because someone is or was a slave do not mean they were hated, mistreated or disrespected. So likewise we should not use this term to discribe the mistreatment of blacks because it's misleading.
Over 90% of the oppression blacks face were not from slave owners, 100 years of lynching or Segregation, Jim Crow happen with slavery abolished so it wasn't slavery. When people talk about "slavery" they mean the mistreatment of Blacks in this country not completely true. Only crime of slavery was keeping someone in bondage against the will for no reason at all. Everything esle we hear about wasn't always from slave owners but by racist and hate.
Nationality is a people having common origins or traditions and often constituting a nation. Is that which is use to describe the culture groups, heritage and customs of a people. It is what used to tie you to who you are and your families of the Earth. Just as people are proud to be a American, Japanese, Ghanaian, etc are proud of their heritage. Proud not only because it's theirs but because that's who they are.
People always tell Blacks that anytime we discuss or talk about the pass they say "get over it" or "that was long" "it's over now". Which is complety unture, People like to believe or pretend to believe this issuse is a way to keep blacks in the pass or"a excuse for failure" all because a particular group is uncomforable hearing about it.
TRUTH is it's impossible to discuss or remember your history at ANY point of time with out the mistreatment of whites. All of my known history heritage is Oppression then so be it. I take pride in the millions that died in vain hoping that one day they would be free. 400 years of oppreesion to millions to just let people slander against those that died in vain by saying "Forget about it". For me to forget about it or agree with that is like saying I'm ok with it. It also means I'm ignorant and unappreciative of it.
