I know this is a lame question... but to satisfy the curiousity of a Mississippi girl with grand dreams of a big city with beautiful people in fabulous clothes... do New Yorkers really dress in black? From what I have heard, if you walk around like Sarah Jessica Parker in "Sex and the City" with bold color and couture, you will be immediately recognized as a forienger without a clue. So, is it true that from everyday life to a night on the town, everyone is in black?

I'm from Mississippi and I've been to the wonderful city of NYC. I did encounter a lot of pepole who were wearing very trendy outfits...not necessarily black though.

I am a up state New Yorker, north of the Mohawk River. We dress as normal as anyone.
As for the city people. NY City is its own little world and should become the 51st state.

no they do not dress all in black eventhoughi am from TX baby! i have been to New York and the people over there dress the same as over here except in some aprts where the ladies are more stylish and same for the guys.

no we don't all wear black. its a popular color amongst some new yorkers, but the majority of people dress normal, obscure, outrageous, fabulous, stylish, hip...whatever.

not everyone dresses in black. the only way you will stand out as different is with an accent.

there are so many different kinds of people in ny as there are everywhere else i would say new york city has the most different people but...its basically the same
