The main character 'Hachi-Maki' is a member of the Debris Section -- a group of astronauts that remove space debris near Earth -- and busts his hump to get on the crew of the planned Jupiter mission.

the list above is great, but he forgot one. check out Martian Successor Nadeisco as well. it's rather good. and Tenchi Muyo GXP as well. it's the only tenchi series that dosen't have tenchi..... you'll see. it's good.
