yes, my brother in law was a beekeeper and i know he always treated the bees with stuff to keep diseases away. Theres a bunch, like rotting that can happen, or molds that grow or certain diseases that make the eggs and larva die before they even hatch...lots of times if a bee house is sick, they just burn the whole thing :( its sad really.
