Someone did get the lyrics right...cut loose like a deuce (a two seater Ford Deuce Coupe) another runner in the night. However it was written by Bruce Springsteen. In fact it was the first track on his first album Greetings From Asbury Park released in 1973. His version was a flop but the Manfred Mann version made it to #1 in 1977. In fact it is the only song that Springsteen has written thus far to reach #1 as a songwriter on the Hot 100.

I believe the song you're thinking of is "Blinded By the Light" by Manfred Mann....except, the actual lyric is :
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a Deuce
Another runner (*not roller) in the night

I think it's "Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Man, it was WRITTEN by Tom Petty, NOT Bruce Springsteen, though (Just an odd bit of trivia for ya!) .

Ian Hunter has a song and the lyrics are:
"this rock & roller don't wanna dance, just another night"
The song is called "just another night"
Could that be it?

You could try "Steve Miller Band"? Midnight toker- the lyrics you provided sound similar.
