Alcohol is a depressant, so if the person is pretty depressed before they start drinking - the alcohol could (quite literally) push them over the edge

my mother ad father has been druks for years now 1 of them is in jail and the other is dead guess what alcohol do not make you want to kill yourseld it takes your problems away if some 1 drinks and then talking or thinking sucide its cuz they thought about it and the booz just boost their conifidence. so no its not the boose its their own fault. with or with out the booze some1 is thinking about hurting their self trust me like i said booze jsut help with a mind decisision. excuse the spelling i'm tipsy myself

It happened to me ! I attempted it four times because I wanted to QUIT DRINKING so bad and was not able to no matter what I did . I was tired of hurting my family & friends and could not think of any other way to stop my pain . If you have more "Q"'s or ...

Yes, alcohol is a depressant. Used long enough and in excessive quantities you will become depressed.
Suicidal thoughts are often associated with depression - so I guess. Alcohol also intensifies emotions, so you figure it out.
Alcohol is just bad.

Yes it acts as a depressant. Best to keep the drinks for when we are feeling pretty good anyway.

Alcohol can make some people depressed, and can affect their judgement and ability to make decisions, which can lead to them committing suicide.

if the person is already suicidal or considering suicide then it can make that person more likely to attempt something like that.
