yes you can...
i had my tubes tied in 2003 and started suffering heavy bleeding about 6 months ago....
it got so bad that i was hospitalized twice b/c my blood count got too low and i needed transfusions. upon talking to my doctor to decide what to do, taking the pill was an option he gave me-it would help regualte the hormone levels in my body, making my periods more normal...
i opted to have ablation done-it's a surgical procedure where the doctor goes into the uterus and exposes the lining to extreme heat-killing the tissue and stopping it from regrowing-this in turn stopped my periods completely. it's great-i no longer have to worry about getting my period at all.
talk to your doctor about all the options available to you but do it soon. i hesitated with mine thinking it would get better and it only got worse-after the last hospital stay, i decided i'd had enough and i needed to be healthy for my 3 little girls...
good luck to you

I am not a doctor, but from what i understand you can. As the female body does not need to bleed every month. If you take the pills, dont take the green ones and you wont have your period. But every three months, take them so that your body has a regular cycle, that will help some, and will make your periods controlled, as for them being heavy, it just might be genetic. The only way to totally take care of that is to get everything taken out, which I highly do not reccommend unless it is medically necissary.

Sure. It won't hurt you. You might also want to check with your doctor about alternative methods. It's possible you might have something else causing the bleeding and need a D and C, but if the pills help, that's great.

Sure you can isn't that what young girls are always telling there parents is the reason they want on the pill is to shorten or make their period lighter? So why couldn't you? I don't see why not. You probably have a clinic in your area that would be help full to you.

I would see your doctor, to see what he/she has to say about it. They have other prescription medications out now to control heavy periods. The pill has more side effects. I would check with your doctor to find out what is best for you.

Have your thyroid checked. Poor thyroid function can be devastating to health and cause fatigue and heavy periods. Many women have this problem undiagnosed.
