a.) It was inevitable because cheap labor was in high demand. The slave owners needed slaves to take care of their cash crops (tobacco, cotton).
b.) Slavery did not flourish in the Northern Colonies because they were about business, not farming.

1) well.....slaves have been a huge part of american history. they made the economy grow and flourish and it created industry. Although it was a terrible thing that should have never happened, I think it was bound to happen in america at one point or another.

2) People didnt need slaves in the north, it was only in the south where there was cotton plantations that needed to be worked that people found a cheap way to make money. In the north they survived on manufacturing the cotton and the industries provided the jobs for the people that worked there. there was a lot more people in the north too...so there was workers available, whereas in the south, there wasnt too much of a population, and less of a population that would have accepted to work out in the hot sun all day for pretty much no pay.

The first part is entirely objective, come up with your own answer. The second part is also somewhat objective, but you could say it didn't flourish in the north because the north was an industrialized economy and didn't need the mass laborforce that the south needed to maintain the cotton, tobacco, and sugar cane fields that gave it its wealth.
