My mother says Mr. Clean has his ear pierced the way he does because he used to be a pirate. My brother says about 10-15 years ago having his one ear pierced meant he was gay. I say that niether are correct. Who's right?

Its mascot is the character Mr. Clean, a muscular bald man who cleans things very well. According to the company, his image is supposed to be that of a sailor, although most people think he is a genie based on his earring, folded arms, and tendency to magically appear at the appropriate time. Mr. Clean has always smiled on the packaging, except for a brief time in the mid 1960's when he was frowning on the package.

Neither of them are correct and you are right. The fact he has an earing on his ear is totally irrelvent and just speculation. It's a mascot character and the orginal reason why he looks this way, no one will know for sure.

Mr. Clean is and has always been a liquid household all purpose cleaner. It has been reported that he is working on a contract with Sponge Bob Squarepants to help endorse his Magic Eraser.

actually they are both right. mr clean was a pirate in his early years right after high school. pirates wore one gold earring as payment to the person who finds their dead body, you bury the dead body, you get the earring. but a lesser known fact about mr clean was that in the few months after high school and before he set out to sea he worked late nights at a gay strip bar to make ends meet.

I don't remember MR CLEAN ever being a pirate. I don't think it matters if he is gay because he's not REAL!!!!!!
