It's possible that your body is just not used to processing that much water at a time. If you're not used to drinking a lot of water, your body might be responding to the sudden increase in water in your bloodstream by passing it "straight through" you, as it were, and your bladder is probably not used to filling up that fast, so you feel like you have to go really badly right away.
The bladder is basically a muscle that gradually expands as it fills, and when it gets full, it automatically starts contracting to try to get the urine out, which makes you feel like you have to pee. What your doctor meant is that if you resist the urge to pee for as long as you can after you first feel it, your bladder muscle will get used to being stretched out a little bit and not contract as forcefully when it first becomes full, which means you won't feel like you have to pee as bad. There's nothing wrong or unhealthy about holding it for a little bit like that, as long as you don't hold it to the point where your bladder starts to physically hurt... at that point your bladder is stretched out about as far as it can safely stretch, and trying to hold it longer than that might cause you to have problems with emptying your bladder completely down the road.
You might also just have a smaller than average bladder, in which case you might just have to get used to peeing more often than most people if you drink water... which isn't the end of the world, and definitely not a reason to quit drinking water, because water is still very important for your health. With a little "practice" holding, though, you should be able to learn to wait comfortably for somewhat longer than 15 minutes, even if your bladder is on the small side. Good luck!

This is totally normal, especially if you are not used to drinking a lot of water. If you drink lots of water on a regular basis, you'll eventually find you don't have to pee as often. And you have to drink an amazing amount of water before it becomes bad for you, so don't worry about over-doing it. Try and drink water constantly all day long and soon your body will be used to having to process it all, and you won't be running to the 'loo every 15 minutes.

This is normal. I drink bottled water before soccer practice and games and I have to go pee as well about 15mins afterwards.
The colder the water the sooner you have to go.
-Try not to hold your pee for too long or you may get a kidney or urinary tract infection.
