I like http://www.boostmobile.com they are nextel's prepay.

Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile have their own prepay version, I hear T-Mobile is the best with minutes. Who do you call the most? Get the prepay version of that plan b/c u will have lower call minutes rates if you call someone with the same service.

Sprint/Nextel/Boost/Virgin Mobile(sprint pre-pay).
Cingular/At&T wireless
There's TracFone - Net 10 & others

I have worked for Cingular and T-Mobile and I have had Verizon. If you are looking for the cheapest minutes then go with T-Mobile because if you spend $100 you get 1000 minutes for the whole year and texting will cost you. T-Mobile beats them all, even tracfone because with tracfone there are requirements on when you use the minutes. Hope this helps you. I actually use t-mobile to go as well because I looked everywhere to get answers to the question you are asking. And walmart actually sells the phones cheaper than t-mobile stores, so get the to go service from them, they are even cheaper than T-mobile.com but they don't have the same phone selection. Hope this helps

It's like 10 to 11 cents a min (in most cases) to call. As long as there is a tower compatible with your phone you can use it anywhere and call anywhere for that amount (roaming will be considerably more), but it's like that with (contract) cell phones.
Texting is usually higher per min..

You normally just buy the phone and 'buy' phone cards to keep minutes on it --- should you run out of minutes or lapse continual in use of the phone; there may be an additional charge to reactivate.

Verizon used to have pay-as-you-go cell phones - you could buy a block of minutes, then more as you needed them. You'll have to look at their contract to find out about texting.

If I were you, I would just stick with getting a regular plan. With a pay as you go phone, I heard that after you use up your minutes, you have to buy a whole new one. Just stick with a plan. Also, then with a plan you can have txt messages!
