Personally, I'd rather deal with the terrorists over there than here. I think what has caused the quagmire we're in is our cessation of major hostilities. We didn't have the difficulties until we quit taking the offensive. If we were seriously planning to win this conflict, we should have continued to treat the situation as a war, not an occupation. Now, at this point I really don't see any alternative except to stay. All we can do is to train the Iraqi forces to the best of our ability, and gradually withdraw as soon as possible.

"Stay the Course" is a dumb anthem.
Thelma and Louise "stayed the course"
Lemmings "stay the course"
We must consult with our generals on the ground, the Iraq government, make it clear that we have a goal and we are done playing games with it. Cut the purse springs to Haliburton and Blackwater immediately. Rehire the military to do those jobs, until we can reasonably retreat to the borders of Iraq (that we can) and be only of emergency assistance. The baby bird won't fly unless it is kicked out of the nest. We must make it urgent...

When iraq was "liberated"a time table should have been set,for the removal of foreign troops. What ulterior motive is acheived by occupying the country.Time to leave, let them(iraqis)keep thier oil It's thiers anyway.Too many soldiers have paid the ultimate price for this folly

What is the difference between leaving now, 2 years ago, or whenever our timetable is up if Iraq is not ready to defend itself? A timetable is all well and good until our time is up and the Iraqis aren't yet ready to defend themselves.
If the timetable isn't flexible, then it is worthless. If it is flexible, then why bother having one?

Time table needs to be set, or it is going to end up more and more like Vietnam, which I as a Vietnam veteran already see.
Figure it out, no time table, civil war is on the brink, no infrastructure, etc. etc. And please no one tell me about all the good we are doing the same thing went on in Vietnam. Find a real good reason we are there to start with? And no there/are no weapons of mass destruction, or terrorist there.

Stay the course. If we leave before the government is ready to assume full control can you imagine who will gain control of that country and what will happen to those who do want to be free?
