when i try to graph x^2/5 on my Texas InstrumentsTI-83 Plus calculator it say error. can someone help me graph it i don't have the instruction book.

it's not the parathasis i tried that and i can't press 2nd n F1 because i have to press ALPHA to get F1

It could be the settings you have on your calculator. Try re-setting it by pushing 2nd-MEM and and pressing F1 to reset defaults.

Go to the top left and press the Y= button, there it will be prompting you for your function; type it just like I tell you with no spaces..

Press the button in the upper left (X,T,Ó¨,n): this will insert your X , then press the ^ button that is located uderneath the CLEAR button, then type (2/5) and press GRAPH button. The 2/5 must be in parenthesis .

The ( button is over the 8 button, and the ) button is over the 9 button. Inside that type 2÷5

It should look just like this:

Y=X^(2/5)

put ur fraction in parenthasis... y= x^(2/5)

your calculator was doing x^2 and dividing it by 5...

with parenthasis it is in order of operation
