Go to www.playbill.com and register for free. They have discount coupons for some shows for you to use and I think they have brief descriptions of all the shows.

Telecharge.com also has discounts to some shows.

Here is a site for LA Theater called Tickco. You can just type in the name of a city and I think it gives you a list.

If you're in NY, try TKTS half price tickets for the same day as the show. The most popular ones won't be there but they usually have a fairly good selection.

Shows: The Drowsy Chaperone is a delightful musical about a mythical 1920's musical, which won a few Tony Awards - I really enjoyed it.

Wicked (based on the witches from The Wizard of Oz) won a "Best Musical" Tony a few years ago.

This year's Best Musical was "Jersey Boys" about the singing group The Four Seasons.
