I've had a few lucky escapes but i guess that comes with the sort of work I do. I'm in the military. Both of my closest misses happened while I was on deployment in Iraq. Just starting into my third month, I was working at one of the makeshift hospitals as a surgeon and this civilian walked in with a guy held to his 5 year old daughters head. He shot her and then took a few shots at me, one just missed my brachial artery so I was awfully lucky.

Second time was on my second deployment to Iraq, we were just leaving the building when it was bombed, three killed instantly and I spent two weeks in Intensive Care in a coma.

I did a part time job for one day putting yoghurts out in a large superstore, It was at night and the fridge/ cold room was in the butchery dept, needless to say, some idiot locked me the fridge and I knew it was going to be a long Easter weekend, I screamed, kicked etc as I was petrified, no mobile phones in those days either, I was wondering who would find me and when and what death would be like when it came.......... a young lad came to the dept to get something he left and heard me, I don't know who was more scared, me or him.

I flipped my volkswagen a few times when I was 16. They say I died in the helicopter and they "jumpstarted" me back. Does that count?
