No, I don't really think that's normal. Maybe your right, maybe you aren't living where you are supposed to live. Maybe you need to broaden your horizons and look for something bigger, someplace that makes you feel better. Good Luck!

Yes I think it is quite normal, lol, I experienced this when I travelled also. I think it is because when we associate with those we don't know we tend to behave differently because we are not so concerned what other people think of us due to the fact that we are not there forever. The other explanation is of course is that you fit in with that particular culture better, I found this when I shifted from my city of birth to my current residence the people were much more friendly and accepting. I think every culture has its own way of interacting with people and some match ones personality more than others.

When you travel you are around new people who are not likely to judge you based on preconceived notions of who you are or a shared common history. I don't necessarily think you are boring where you live, but maybe just bored with those around you so you don't really feel a need to make an effort to be anything special to them.

You were probably in "holiday mode" where you are excited and lively and perky and happy when you travel.

But when your at home you are in "ho hum" boring same old same old half asleep mode where nothing excites you and your personality is asleep too.

Its hard to be excited and enthusiastic about everyday life but if you could manage it you would be super popular with everyone I bet.

Could be you are like me! I love to travel! When you are doing something you love you are happy and people like to be around happy people. I think I should move to another time zone my body clock will not adjust to the eastern time zone. I am up at 4 a.m. and sleepy at 8 p.m. Could be something to your theory about we have places we are supposed to live!

I feel exactly like you do.

However, nobody has ever accused me of being normal.

The reason you feel you do not belong explains why you are popular when you travel. You probably are more willing to please. However, remember this saying "He who live to please, will have to please to live!".
