That is a difficult question to answer because there is some disagreement about the status of workers in various occupations. In the top positions there are 545 people in the leadership positions of federal government, and 536 of them are elected.

I read that Government is the largest employer in America, actually employing 40% of the total work force, between the Fed, State and local govs. Government produces nothing. If the 40% figure is true, that's almost half of America that is non-productive freeloading off the productive half. Add the other un-employables (welfare kings and queens, disability types, whatever other socialist programs) and every one of us with a real job is fully supporting a freeloader on our paycheck.

not sure but a lot. 436 congresspersons/100 senators/nine supreme court justices/president.vice oresident and all of the presidents men. not to mention staff support.
