I currently have my PCconnected to cable internet and I have to string a coax around a room. I would like to make it wireless. I already have a wireless adapter in the PC. Do I only need a wireless router?

Yes. The wireless router connects to your cable modem, and your computer connects to the wireless router.

Yep, That should be the only thing you need to buy.
Then you can set up a home network, and have all sorts of fun.
Most wireless routers cost between $75 and $300. My suggestion is to go with a Wireless-G network as it has the best signal at an affordable price.

Yes, you need a wireless router to connect your PC with a wireless device to the internet.

Yes a wireless router is all you need. I would recommend a D-Link DI-524, as it is cheaper, it has great power, and it has 4 hardwire ports in case you wanna hook up an Xbox or PS2 for online gaming via CAT5 cable.

Yes, you do need a wireless router. One of the best is considered to be the Linksys WRT54GL.
