I am returning to work - part time. Tomorrow I have to be gone a whole 8+ hours. I have been storing/freezing breastmilk - but how much should I anticipate baby will need for the babysitter??

My Ped said that the average baby will take an ounce per hour....so if you will be gone 8 hours, leave at least 8 ounces. Maybe leave alittle more as this will be the first time baby is away from you and may need to feed for comfort until he gets used to the sitter. Good luck

Fix a couple of 6 oz bottles and see if that will be enough. My son was drinking 8 oz at 5 months old and he was breastfed. I would also keep some supplemental feeding methods on the side. If babysitter accidentally spills your breastmilk then she should have something as back up. I did this and my baby was fine. I fed him prior to going to work and for my lunch hour I went to feed him. He had 1 supplemental bottle during the day and then breastmilk for every feeding thereafter. The supplemental feeding lasted him until I could get him. Hope this helps!!

Probably this weekend you should have bottle fed to calculate how much your baby took in during a feeding and made sure that he was willing to take a bottle.
Worst case senario, I would send 6 OZ for every feeding. Its not likely he is taking in that much at a feeding but you would rather be safe than sorry and have the sitter run out.

I don't know if this will help you but I have 2 month old twin boys and they both eat 6 oz every 4-5 hours.

We fed ours between 5-8 oz, every 2-4 hours. It's better to leave too much than not enough.

I would figure on it being 6-8 oz. per feeding. That may be overkill but thats better then too little. After the first day you will know how much you will need after that.

It depends on your babys weight and feeding schedule, and whether you have introduced cereal--since your stored breast milk is frozen--guess on the side of feeding too much. My two children had dramatic differences in their eating habits, even at that age. My best suggestion would be to check LaLeche League(surely they have a website) for more informed advice.

8 every 4 hours. Your baby is old enough to eat baby rice mixed with milk, water, or fruit. No.1 jars of baby food.

8oz for every three hours that would be two bottles but do five just in case the little one eats a little of one and than gets hungry before the next feeding. and if you have baby food that would help to if you do baby food yet helps keep from getting hungry
