Sounds like the other PC is not enabled to recieve your remote request. Win XP?

When you open the Remote Desktop connection thing, if you are on a home network, make sure your router is configured to allow remote desktop connections, make sure under the advanced tab in the remote desktop connection that you have the Domain correct,(this is the same as the Workgroup). Then you should also make sure that the computer you are trying to connect to has been enabled for Remote Desktop Connections. This can be reached by right clicking on My Computer and clicking Properties and then going to Remote tab.

Make remote assistance active and get the password.
If the computer is truly remote, consider calling the other party to obtain their password. I suggest emailing this info, for security purposes.

Batstar beat me to it.. Make sure both computers have it enabled before trying to connect. Make sure they're both Windows XP and are connected to the net. Good luck.
