Wondering if there are any disabled mothers out there, what adaptions do you have. Did you run into any hateful, doubtful people as you were pregnant? What happened and what was your response.
I walk with leg braces and a very odd gait. I have not been approached by anyone at any time (my mother was shocked but not always supportive anyways), but ready for anyone who dares to have anything to say to my face. I am the proud mother of a beautiful 10 month old daughter. And BTW my mother is very proud of her granddaughter!!

wow congrats! i know its very hard to be a mother... although I'm not disabled.but I'm on my third one! ;) keep up the good work i bet your a great mom!!

My mom walks with a leg brace up to her hip and had 3 kids with just regular help from the family. Good for you not letting anyone tell you what to do!!!

I have bipolar disorder, and with all the sensationalism surrondind mentally ill women killing their kids, you can only imagine what happened when my hubby and I announced that we wanted to have a baby. They all said, what if you can't handle it? What if you get sick, who will take care of your baby? You know what? Everyone says now that I am the most natural, knowledgeable mother, and that they can't imagine me WITHOUT any children. And now we are planning for number 2...

Sure, they do. I just saw a documentary tonight on TLC about a woman who has no legs and only has a torso and arms and she had a baby.

I have never come across anyone who was mean spirited, just people who were genuinely concerned about my health, baby's health, etc.
