The first thing that you must do if you are planning to get an apartment is look at your credit score and understand what it means. People with bad credit often don't understand how the credit scoring system works. If you have a less than perfect credit score, it is a good idea to find out more about the credit scoring system.
In the US, the credit score is given by an agency called FICO. A perfect credit score is 700. However, you can get a mortgage loan to buy an apartment even with a score that is les than 700. Typically, a FICO score anywhere between 600 and 640, entitles you to a 100% home loan financing. Even if you have a score between 500 and 600 you should be able to get a home mortgage loan, provided you are willing to make a down payment. Getting a loan to buy an apartment becomes more difficult if your score is less than 500. One option is to approach a specialized bad credit loan programs available for people with bad credit, bankruptcies, late payments and other credit related problems.
Paula D had a very good answer too, that would be a much quicker way.

go get a loan and make the monthly payments for at least 2 months...I know that will set you back, but it will give you credit. I wanted to get a car and I couldn't because I didn't have any credit. So I just went to a small loan place, took out a loan, paid it off and now I got a new car, and as long as I keep paying on time my credit builds up.

Try and find a place that doesn't do a credit check, like a private landlord as opposed to an apartment complex. Also, see if they will overlook the credit problems by showing them documentation such as a good work history and character references. If a landlord likes you and sees you as a couple of good kids, they may overlook the credit issue.

go to a real estate agent and they should be able to help you get an apartment with no credit or if you don't need to move right away get a credit card and build credit BUT DON'T LET YOUR B/F USE IT.just use it for emergency. Good luck

Ask the property if they'd let you get a co-signer. If not, then bummer.
I work in this field, sometimes they'll allow a co-signer but if your credit is that bad then it won't make any difference. You may need to establish your credit first.

i would say no credit is better than bad credit, try running the credit check just under your name first that might work
