I am a black female and have heard about not washing your hair after having a baby. I know many medical professional would say it just an old wise tale. But I would wait to wash my hair. Maybe two weeks.
Many things medical professional have explained away as ole wise tale have actually been great advice.
One last thing you could clean your scalp with a face towel,a little shampoo and water. But make sure you will be at home for the day. Don't go outside with wet hair.

I have never heard that you can't wash your hair after having a baby. I washed my hair the day I gave birth. I am white though.
If you need a style that lets you go awhile without washing, I suggest braids. When my hair was braided I could go about a week without washing compared to my normal daily washes when it isn't braided. I would imagine it would be the same for black people if not longer.

I washed my hair the day after I had the baby. I'm white, but I dye my hair and I try to wash it no more than twice a week, unless I use products in it.
I do have a friend that keeps her hair braided all the time, and I know that she can go a long time without taking it out, washing, and rebraiding. All of my other black friends wash their hair just as often (or more than) I do, but most of them straighten their hair.

I had braids when I had my baby. I have never heard about not being able to wash your hair after having a baby. I am a black female and I say wash your hair if you want to. Your hair has nothing to do with having a baby. You can get a cute ponytail (either drawstring or wrap around and glued in) If you black you know what I am talking about. The choice is yours.

Really a week , i have to wash my hair everyday. I washed my hair the day after i gave birth, it made me feel totally fresh and clean , but i guess if you don't wash it often then well i don't see the harm in waiting a week but you'll prolly feel better after you give birth if you get all cleaned up , it's up to you but I've never heard of the waiting myth !

To make things easier for you - if you have an idea of when you might go into labor (like after you've had an exam and if you find out how much your cervix has dilated, if at all), you could go to a salon and have them wash you hair and braid it for you. Ask them to do something that will last for a while. Maybe even throw in a manicure to pamper yourself! God knows you won't have much time for that right after the baby comes! Good luck with everything! :)

I took a shower and washed my hair a few hours after giving birth to each of my two children. I have never heard of not being allowed to wash ypur hair after giving birth. Don't worry, you will be able to wash your hair. Now I don't know how soon you can shower after a C section, but you can ask your doctor about it.

You could wash your hair right after you had the baby if you wanted to. There is no reason why you couldn't wash your hair after you have a baby.

Unless the doctors tell you otherwise (for medical reasons), there's absolutely no reason you should not wash your hair after giving birth. I took a shower on the same day that I had given birth to our daughter. I can see not wanting to due to discomfort or pain or fatigue, but other than that, wash away!

Maybe it's different for you, but I was able to wash my hair the day I had my baby. I was never told to wait. If you need to wash it, then wash it.
