I use regular liquid toilet bowl cleaner and it takes them off immediately. Rinse well. It does not removed or harm the enamel. I have done this successfully for years.

With Comet Spray Bathroom Cleaner (white bottle, green label, meant for tubs).

You can really douse the tub with it for the initial application (watch out, it makes the tub very slippery). After about twenty minutes or even a little longer see how much of the rust will come off with a cleaning brush. You'll probably see quite a bit come off.

Over the next few days faithfully spray the tub and surrounding wall with the cleaner after the last shower of the day. The rest of it will mostly come off by itself. After about four days of applying the stuff you may be able to get what little is left with the brush.

Note: There's the chance it won't take all of the above for you to get it all off, but I've found its what works for "dramatic stains" (that build up after just a week of not having any Comet in the house).

It costs about $1.99 in my area, and I'm not the only one I know who won't be without it.

Have you tried one of those rust stain removers you get in the cleaning product aisle at the grocery or discount stores. I use Lime Away and it got the rust stain off of my fiberglass shower wall.

I use a product called "Whink", rust, stanin remover. I have only seen this at Food Lion grocery stores. It comes in a brown plastic 10 oz. bottle. Works great on tubs, sinks, toilets.

Try using CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover). Be sure to read the directions to make sure it wont ruin your tub, and only try it on a small spot first. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly with clean water. Good luck!

I've found The Works tub and shower cleaner gets about anything clean. It's at WalMart and other places, and it's inexpensive but powerful. Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin, and watch out for the fumes.
