In my opinion, third world countries exist because of a number of factors. Most of those countries are in Africa, where drought has caused famine and an ever expanding Sahara Desert. The farmers cant grow crops to feed the populations of various countries on the continent. Another factor is the social divide-- there are very few that are rich, and those that are very corrupt, especially the politicians and various dictators who rule in Africa. There is enough food to feed the world's population, but it only goes to those that can afford to buy it, and too many people dont have that money to buy basic goods. Those that live in countries in North America, Europe or some Asian countries should count themselves lucky to live in prosperous countries that look after their people. Another factor is education, most children living in Africa right now dont have access to it. Disease is another reason. Most third world countries dont have the proper sanitation to ward off disease, and you see the results on a daily basis. Most third world countries also are ravaged by war, where a lot of money that is given to these countries winds up-- in guns, ammunition and military equipment. We in the developed nations need to scrutinize where the money goes-- to make sure those that need it the most actually get the help they so desperately need.

Third world countries exist because they are called third world countries. Since the demise of the USSR and its Eastern European Allies, it might be more accurate to call them second world countries if there are no counties that are currently listed in this category.

Because the first world (read 'rich' countries) have knowingly identified them as such. 3rd world countries are often ancient civilizations, rich in culture and occasionally rich in resources but have only recently been constituted as nation states with definitive borders. So the civilizations which have thrived since the breakup of the Roman empire in 476 AD (mostly christian and European) denigrate Egyptians, Ethiopians, Syrians, Persians, Indians, Chinese, Zulus as 3rd world without acknowledging modern 1st world civilization was built on the bones of all these "3rd world" civilizations. Now, as you can see, the 3rd world is intent on making the 1st world pay for this insolence...and there are more of them than of us.

Because third world countries are needed by developed countries for investation, to get natural resources, cheap labors, dump toxic waste, sell their products, etc. Third world countries are made by developed countries and keep them that way as economics slave.

Third world means countries that can wait for Industrial developments. due to their conditions or abilities to handle poverty such as mental state, in this case culture is their greater strength.
as an example India is country with very pacific, and patient people
There is a very close similarity with the Latin America Indians.

Time is the great debility of other cultures who don't have Patience to make a waiting line. this is due to several causes one of them in vanity, they can not handle poverty, poverty will take them to violence. their mind will take them to destruction, which is WAR

paula d is way off with her answer! Look at all the Millions of dollars we give Africa every year and look what that does for them. I don't understand the nature of your question. I assume that you are talking about the unfair distribution of wealth. In my eyes, this has alot to do with Capitalism. Communism should have been allowed to evolve in the hands of better, more sane people.
