You can have it set to turn off after a given amount of time using the Windows OS. By doing this: START-Control Panel-Performance and Maintainance (if you are using the XP catagories view)-Power Options. The just selct the time that you want it to run before turning it off.
That is an easy way to do it without downloading anything, and I do not recommend you download something to automatically turn off your computer, as it may not do so in a proper manor, and you may end up turning on your computer to an error message saying System 32 files are missing.

If you are using Windows XP, it usually ships with a command called shutdown.exe. If you have that on your computer, you can write it into a simple batch file that basically has only that command in it, and use Windows Task Scheduler to schedule a job that starts that batch file at whatever time you want the computer to turn off.

On windows XP you could setup a SCHEDULED TASK to run the command line
shutdown -s -f -t 0
at a specified time ..
