I used much less paper when I took a class online. I did not print out anything. My teacher graded things by highlighting them and emailing it back to me.
A friend of mine took the same class though and she printed out all of the articles instead of just reading them online. I still think that she used less paper though because she did not have to print out hard copies of her work, but just emailed it instead.

Less fo me. I printed any hard copies that I needed at school or work. Most of my work, I could save and send as an attached document. My teacher responded with highlighted corrections, through email, or our school's Blackboard (which is a online classroom system).
