I've struggled with my baby for about 1 month, she's almost 5 months old, she wakes up a lot and it is driving me crazy! I figured one of the reasons why she wakes up is because she misses me, so I put in her crib this caterpillar that I used to sleep with, that way she feels there's "someone" next to her, and it also has my scent, so I thought I'd give it a try, just because I was a total zombie from lack of sleep (it was a desperate measure) She's sleeping a little better now, but I worry a lot because I've heard that you shouldnt put anything in the crib for risk of SIDS...

Do not put any stuffed animals in the crib with the baby. I found this website online that I found really interesting, www.babysake.com it talks about SIDS.

About your daughter waking up at night all the time. If you are formula feeding her, she may have heartburn and that might be why she is not sleeping. My son has this problem and I let him sleep in his bouncy seat, because he isn't laying flat. Anyway, this works great for me. I'm also going to try an organic formula to see if this helps. I almost forget, you can buy a wedge for your daughter's crib that might help. When I used the wedge it didn't help my son, but every baby is different. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask.

At 5 months old she should be fine, but every baby is different. They also say that you shouldn't sleep with your baby, or let them sleep on their stomach. My daughter slept with me for a long time, she also sleeps on her stomach 99% of the time (since she was a week old). Now she is a healthy 11 month old.

Yes it is dangerous. I wouldn't reccomend it. But while she is sleeping gently lift the toy out of her arms. Or puy your scent of a blanket that way she has a blankie instead of a toy.

if she can roll over, or move around on her own, the stuffed animal should be fine.
my 11 month old sleeps with a stuffed panda bear.

it should be fine, if you're awake then move it so she can still see it but not reach it when shes asleep, but even if you fall asleep before you can do this, i dont think she will try to put it in her face and not breathe with it.

let her fall asleep with the toy and carefully take it out of her hands when she is sleeping.
