I don't. I just say "Nope" and keep walking. They don't stop every single person and just because I look like I am 17 when I am 27 doesnt mean I stole something. I have seriously had them try to stop me over a dozen times and I just look like a normal person (not dirty and like I am up to something or whatever).

In case you were wondering they never do anything about it because they can't. They just look shocked. The lady today kept rambling on walking behind me about hoping she didn't get fired.

How is them looking at my receipt with what, 50 items on it, going to show them anything?! Are they going to go through every single bag? No, so it's pointless and a waste of time unless I have something big that they want to check for. Anyways, if I were stealing something wouldn't I hide it instead of have it in the buggy?

No, I don't stop and it is not a legal way to check someones packages. In my state of Georgia, a person seen shoplifting has to be followed consistently and never out of an employees eyesight. If they are stopped and searched and they have returned the item, then the store can be held libel. Only when the alarm goes off are they allowed to ask the customer if they will allow them to check their upc codes with the receipt. The customer can still say no. The store can call the authorities if they so choose, but they usually don't. So when asked at the door, respectfully decline the employees request. If they persist in bothering you, you can call the authorities. If they talk about losing their job, inform them that what they are doing is against your constitutional rights and you will bring suit against them and the store. What we pay for is our property and no-one has the legal right to seize or search it at any time.

How funny. Yes I always stop, but I also think its dumb for them to ask me for my receipt when they are standing there looking at me pay for my items at the cash register. They do that at Target sometimes. Maybe I'll just say no like you, my luck they'll tackle me down. LOL

no i don't stop and they used to do that at best buy too!! they can't stop you. it's illegal. they tried that at meijer too and apparently too many people know the law so they haven't been doing it lately. it's embarrassing and an affront to our standing in the community we live in. they're openly accusing us of stealing. i just keep on walking, and if the mood strikes me, i tell them i will not stop and continue walking. i've never been touched before, but boy, the day i feel a hand on my body anywhere during a situation like that will be the day i hit the lottery cuz i will sue the pants off the store in question!!

Yes I do stop, because I have nothing to hide and I have not stolen anything. You look guilty when you refuse to show a receipt.

if you have nothing to hide you have noting to fear and evidently you are doing something and they have cameras so if you are you can be sure you are caught and they will come get you so instead of being rude to a person that has a job try to cooperate and be more like a human being really it is very easy

When they are right there watching me checkout and i have a bunch of stuff and ask me...i look at them and say"" you can't be serious.. you just saw me checkout"" follow me to my car and you can see it.. sometimes i will hold it out for them when they don't want it... and make them look at it..

I don't take it personally. They have to act like they are doing something, other than standing there.

be nice. Those people are just doing their job. Why hurt their feelings and be rude?
