The Pistons will be the surprise team in the league this year. Most people are expecting that the Pistons will fall apart due to the loss of Ben Wallace to the Bulls.
Ben Wallace was a liability on offense, especially in the playoffs. Teams would play off of Ben Wallace, to force him to shoot or try and make a play. Ben Wallace has no offensive game, so the Pistons wound up short, essentially playing four on five on offense. Ben also had statistically, the worst free throw percentage in the history of the NBA last year, and he appears to be getting worse. His replacement, Nazr Mohammed, has an offensive game, plays defense and will make the Pistons better, with Flip Murray coming on board to spell Chauncey Bullips and Rip Hamilton.
Las Vegas will get the NBA All star game, and that's it. No pro sports team will play in Vegas due to the fact that sports gambling is legal there.

The Mavs will be good yet again with good offensive AND defensive aquisitions, but I'm looking at Indiana this year. Harrington and O'Neal will play together like Jordan and Pippen (only bigger), and the aquisition of Marquis Daniels will make up for Peja's scoring. The overall difference is the youth and quickness of the re-vamped roster. David Harrison is on his third year, and will be a force now that he's had more time to learn how to play at the NBA level. Danny Granger could have been rookie of the year last year had he got more minutes, and will be starting this year. This alone will prove problematic for any team facing Indiana due to his versatility. He will alternate from 2 to 3 to 4, depending on the opponents offensive scheme (i.e. going to a small line-up or a big line-up). He can shoot 3's, defend, drive, block shots, and make the mid-range jumper. Al harrington will also rotate from the 3 to the 4, depending on the size of the opposing line-up. His defense will be suspect until about late November. Coach Carlisle will shape him into one hell of a defensive powerhouse. And lastly, everyone is used to Indiana playing that San Antonio/Detroit style of basketball, but Bird and Carlisle have different plans. This team will defend as they always have, but they will be running like Phoenix on offense, believe me. The only thing holding Indiana back is the youth of their bench, and their proneness to injuries, especially Jamaal Tinsley and Jermaine O'Neal.

the Hawks, they have been so bad over the last few years because of their inexperience, lack of interior defense, and lack of a point guard. Now the young guys are more experienced. Marvin Williams was player of the year in the summer league. Josh Smith is huge now. he has really bulked up and people say he has improved immensely. The hawks drafted the best interior defensive player in the draft and have a solid backup center now. They also have a true point guard in Claxton now. The loss of Al Harrington will actually help the Hawks. Because Harrington was a great scorer but lacked defense. Now that he is out, I expect Josh Smith and Marvin Williams to step it up and make up for the scoring plus they both should get more rebounds than harrington did.

the rumors are 100% false. it would be established by now. and I think the Rockets will surprise us, because if they are healthy, they own. The Knicks and Nuggets might do good too. Warriors might get low playoff spot along with the Sonics maybe. Pistons will win it all though, ofcourse.

The Milwaukee Bucks will surpise everybody because Andrew Bogut and Charlie Villanueva will both step up and lead the Bucks far into the playoffs hopefully.

Charlotte Bobcats.
Seriously. Look at their roster now, it's loaded with top draft picks and talent. Year 3 is when new teams make their move.
