Love has so many meanings in English. Are we talking about romantic love - erotic, based largely on Roman cultural norms regarding courting and sexual habits, etc.

friendship love - the bond between people with common interests
appreciation love - I love that field of flowers.

need love - like an infant has for it's mother.

responsibility love- like a mother has for her infant.

Or how about agape love. The love that comes with long-term unquestioned commitment and regular selfless acts of charity that are not hedonistic?

As you can see, love has many meanings, and there are probably several more. They are distinct and provide distinct feelings and are related primarily only by a common word. This is not true in many other older languages. It gets confusing.

I would say of eros, philos, storges, and agape, the agape love is hard to beat. In fact. in 1 Corinthians 13 Paul says that of eternal things there are three faith, hope and agape (love/charity) and the greatest of these is agape (love/charity).

Shot.
The horse loves oats; the earth, manure; and the governor, tribute.
And,
The first snow does not mean winter, nor the first love marriage.
But:
Sometimes it is better to give your apple away, than to eat it yourself. Two eyes can see better than one.
And
"Practice is better than theory."
A drunken man, when asleep, is better left alone. If you love, you don't awoke.

LOVE, n. A temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. This disease, like caries and many other ailments, is prevalent only among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the physician than to the patient.

I like tequilas answer! Lol!!!!

What can be better than love for me......is to be financially stable, secure, be mentally and physically healthy, be able to provide a great life for my son, and have a hot male friend who would be willing to accomodate me when I feel the need to be close. Love can wear very thin......very quickly.

If you want to be loved by all, first love God, then your mother and father.
To love is well, but to love well is better.
"Ambition, love of riches, these things torment us not; we reck not of the Forum and its triumphs; all we seek is seclusion and repose. Love is swift to take hold of us and burns us with its fiercest flame, and into our love, alas, we put over-much of trust and confidence."
XXIII.
Lo! some we loved, the loveliest and best
That Time and Fate of all their Vintage prest,
Have drunk their Cup a Round or two before,
And one by one crept silently to Rest.
O.K.
