5*4=20-7=13

5x-7= 13

bring the -7 to the other side therefore the sign infront if it changes:

5x= 13+7

5x= 20

then divide the whole thing by 5 to get the value of x

5x =20
x =4

To get rid of the -7 add 7 to each side (because what you do one side you must do to the other). Then that leaves 5x=20. When there is an x, that means you divide the other side by the number before the x, so 20 divided by 5=4. X=4.
