"The Pony Cart," in which one of the Walton boys helps an elderly woman (who everyone thinks is horribly mean) fulfill her dream of building a horse-drawn buggy.
After her first, joyous ride in the cart, the woman dies.
It brought tears to my young eyes, and won actress Buelah Bondi (who played the old woman) an Emmy award.
Second choice: John Ritter's first appearance as the Reverend. He accidentally gets sloshed on the Baldwin sisters' "recipe" and almost loses his job as a result.

To this day I still love the original Christmas pilot the Homecoming with Patricia Neal as Olivia. I loved the series too, but this show where John (father) gets caught in the storm and they think he might have died and then he comes home at the end with the presents for everyone.........I loved it.

impressive episode ever: even as Elizabeth develop into haunted by employing a poltergeist. I nonetheless get chills even as i imagine of her raggedy ann doll sitting up contained in the approach the evening... and that i have not considered that episode in a minimum of 25 years! staggering educate. My widespread characters were consistently Elizabeth and JimBob.
