Because the kids have fun with the candy and eggs and the church doesn't mind because it gets filled up and people put a lot of money in the plate.

There isn't any fear or disgust with mixed traditions, anyway. No child get depressed or stops eating candy when they find out the Easter Bunny doesn't exist.

ah, this old chestnut. the actual holidays of Christmas and Easter are in themselves definitely not pagan. they were holidays started by the early Christians, then adopted by most every secular group. but here's where most people get confused. as explained to me by an evangelist and a catholic priest, while the holidays themselves are not pagan, the placement of these holidays within the course of the year are. the date of Christmas doesn't change because a permanent date was decided upon years ago. however, Easter's date changes because the original date for Easter was taken from a pagan holiday celebrating the vernal equinox (notice how Easter always seems to fall on or directly after a full moon?)

Because it was easier for the Christians to adopt and make subtle changes to Pagan holidays to get Pagans to go along with it and then as time went by to say that it was theirs all along. Just as it was easier for Christians to put churches up on old Pagan holy sites to make it so Pagans had to go there to worship.

And for those that don't believe Easter was a Pagan holiday just remember, the day that Christ was suppose to raise from the dead is never the same from one year to the next, it is always worshiped on the first Sunday after the full moon after the Spring Equinox (if that doesn't scream Pagan I don't know what does.)

Because the Christians took the idea from the pagans to get them to convert to Christianity.
It is a time to celebrate the return of the sun and warmth after the cold of winter. and the start of a new year and life.
the days maybe off a bit as the pagan one starts with the birthing of the new lambs. and the christian one starts at a set date by the current calender and te day Jesus rose from the grave.
The Pagans call this time EOSTAR(spring equinox,March 20-23)
rather than a single day called Easter.
Either way it is a time of new starts and hope.

Easter is a religious holiday, be it pagan or christian (whatever). Both are very similar.. this could be because christianity etc.. was derived from pagan traditions.
I dont know what jesus has to do with colored eggs and chocolate though...My guess is hunting for eggs and eating chocolate was something for us pagan kids to do while waiting for the other kids to get out of church.

Old rites were often folded into the new religions, especially to make the new path more palatable to people caught up in the change. At this point, Easter is a recognized component of mainstream Christian theology.

Just like so many other originally pagan holy days, Easter was adopted by the christian church because it made it easier to convert pagans, who wouldn't stop celebrating their holy days, to the christian church.
Most people nowadays just don't know or they refuse to believe it.

most Christan holidays are stolen pagan ones. Christianity has only been around for 200 years. Paganism has been around a lot longer. My guess is that people respect the christian meaning rather than the pagan one.

you must not know or understand about the death of Christ or his Resurrection, because that is the true meaning of Easter. the pagan meaning has to do with rebirth and I believe the Egyptians brought the egg part of it into Easter history.

The Easter Eggs and all that is Pagan, but the Resurection is Not. Read your Bible and you will find what is and isnt pagan
