no, they can't. they are reptiles, and one thing all reptiles have in common is the fact that they have almost computer-like brains. you put in one stimulus, and you get the same response every time.they don't think or feel, they just do what they're programmed to do by their ancestral memory.

it really depends if your talking about a saltwater or nile croc, dont bother they get too big and crocs are a bit more timid than aligators, american alligators are kept as pets and do become attatched to owners but sadly get discarded and let go as they get massive. if you are looking at dwarf caimens then yes they are good pets so long as you take care of them right. they can become attatched to owners but its like taking care of an infant child all the time, require an enourmous amount of time, patiance, devotion and a strict feeding regimine. they must be traind to feed in only one area away from people and must never see you give it food, this will eliminate the instinct to see you as having food. never feed live food, dont whant it having to chase its food. keeping these animals is a very contraversial subject. people either completley agree or completly disagree with keeping these animals. but i have 2 very happy and non aggressive wedgehead caimens, that i socialise with every day and around public.

well truthfully i am not aware of any research dont on that.....although i did see that on the pet detective a gator became attached to the man that cares for it in gatorland i beleive it was. he actually knew that this man had personal problems from "conversations" they had together and he said to stop feeding him cetain meats because the man switched his diet and the gatir didnt like it. dut on a non psychic way i...i would suppose so

Not really...they're not friendly like that. They may recognize you as the person that feeds them and may not eat you...but I don't think you want to try and pet them. I'm pretty sure they won't respond to voice other then striking at it...they're not pets and you really can't train them.
