why do rappers only rap about sex money and females?

Rappers today only rap about those things, because that is what has now become hyped up. There are rappers out there that do NOT rap about sex, money, and females. But the don't get raidio air time because the only way you get played anymore is if you have the big record companies behind you...therefore only things like "Does your chain hang low" get played and the IQ of a nation get's dropped.

There are rappers like Will Smith who do not rap about those things, and actually rap about things that matter, but they get downplayed, or people complain about them, and riddicule them because they don't rap into the hyped view of "rapper".

I personally hate the dierection in which rap has gone, it used to be that rappers were supposed to be "Ghetto Poets", and rap actually had substance...now it's largely become hyped up, and all about the money, sex, and females...sad thing.

Mostly because ignorance is what sells. The more dumb you sound the more society likes you.

Also, a lot of rappers come from the ghetto, so sex, money and women are what they gloirfy in the hood. They rap about what they are living or seeing on a daily basis and most of the time, it's not all good things they see and live.

Not all them do. Most of the commercial ******** rappers do, but listen to Sage Francis, he doesnt sing about that sort of garbage. He sings about stuff like politics, and freedom of speech, and peace & his personal life.

Also listen to Buck 65. He raps about his personal life, and being abused as a child etc.

actually they don't, they also rap about getting drunk and high/stoned. no in all seriousness a lot of the good ones rap about other stuff, such as social issues, dealing with a hard upbringing, and other meaningful subjects. some of these rappers include eminem, 2pac, biggie, lil wayne and others.

Because that is what sells. There have been several rappers who have tried to make it by rapping about religion, or other things but they flopped because people don't want to buy their albums.

..those are the ones you listen to. there are of mainstream rap that is "conscious rap", that has none of that junk in it. that mess is for the birds. sadly, that mess sells.
