Battery powered. I have 2 Mini Electric MP5's, they use AA's, but they are not very powerful, and they don't work very well in the cold. I was playing airsoft in the winter one time and the cold air slowed them down dramatically. My husband also has an electric one but its the batteries that come in packs. They work better, but not great, in the cold because the battery pack is covered in a thick plastic. Get a gas one, those are pretty good.

Electric Airsoft means just that...an airsoft gun powered by electric batteries.
Acronyms used in airsoft include:

Airsoft- air guns that have a low muzzle velocity- ALMOST safe around other people.
Electric airsoft- airsoft guns that use battery power to shoot, instead of using a pump or CO2 cartridge.
Electric guns often have rapid fire capabilities.
