I just got the monroe done and I've had bad luck with piercings in the past. They usually wind up getting infected. So I was just wondering what I should do if I see that it's starting to look a little weird...Can you stop it from becoming really infected?

Other than using antibiotic cream, I've called out favors to friends who had amoxicillian or penicillin in their medicine cabinets.
I hope you can save your piercing!!

If you've had problems with piercings before, you might have an allergy to the metal used. Try gold if you can.

Otherwise, the best thing you can do is DON'T TOUCH IT. The only time you should touch a new piercing is when you clean it in the morning and at night (or whatever directions they gave you). When you play with it is usually when it becomes infected.

Make sure when you clean it you use an antibacterial soap to wash it (making sure to get all the soap off) then apply whichever piercing solution they should have given you.

If it starts to get really weird/uncomfortable, take it out. It's easier to get it repierced than deal with a nasty infection.

Hope this helps :)

A&D ointment. It's made for diaper rash, but it's also reccomended by piercers/tattoo artists for new piercings and tats. Alcohol is good, too. However- it will burn like fire and may not be good that close to your mouth. So use that as a last resort. Also, sea salt. It helps keep it clean.

Wash it twice a day with antibacterial soap and a q-tip...make sure to move it around a lot when doing this. You have to make sure you get all the soap out or it'll become irritated and dry.
