Yes house prices are ridiculous but that's down to the obsessed British and the property ladder. They are also fuelling it across the globe, to the detriment of locals. I've heard they are even driving prices up as far away as New Zealand.

The problem is that they see property as an investment. If they would only invest in commodities or antiques the rest of us would be able to afford the most important thing in a human's life; shelter.

Another way is for an independent government body to value every home that goes on the market and ensure it is not sold above that price. This would stop buyers paying over the odds and driving prices up.

Most people believe the housing boom is over. Prices might fall only slightly (maybe a couple of percentage points) but don't expect anything better than that. Right now prices are stabilizing, but I thing that's the best you can hope for.

I dont think the prices will drop anytime soon unfortunately.
The prices will have to stabalise soon though otherwise the whole country will be in massive debt.
